From First Call to Final File in Three Phases

  1. Pre-production

Discovery and strategy come first, so we understand the brand, the audience, and the goal. Then we develop the concept, write the script, and draw a storyboard for you to approve. For live action we also cast, scout locations, build the schedule, and arrange permits.
  2. Production

This is the shoot or the animation. On live-action projects a dedicated crew films on set or in a studio with professional lighting and audio while we direct. On animated ones, the visuals are built and voice talent records the narration.
  3. Post-production

The edit comes first, followed by motion graphics, color correction, sound design, and the audio mix. You give notes, we revise, and the finished video is delivered in whatever formats you need.

Miami Industries and the Video They Use

South Florida sells sunshine, property, care, and a gateway to Latin America. Each has its own kind of video.

Hospitality and tourism

Hotels, restaurants, and attractions have to look as good on a phone as they do in person. Short brand films and social cuts carry the feel of a place before a guest books.

Brand videos

Real estate and development

Many buyers of Miami condos and waterfront homes start their search from another city or country. Property films and agent videos let them see the building and meet the person selling it.

Social media videos

Healthcare and wellness

Hospitals, clinics, and aesthetic practices explain procedures and introduce doctors on video, so patients arrive knowing what to expect.

Testimonial videos

Beauty and fashion

Skincare, cosmetics, and apparel brands need product spots that show texture, color, and results up close.

Commercials

Cruise, travel, and trade

PortMiami is one of the world’s busiest cruise ports, and the airport is a major cargo gateway. Travel and logistics companies use training and safety video for large crews that change often.

Finance and technology

Banks, investment firms, and startups in Brickell and Wynwood use animated explainers to make a product or a fund clear in a minute or two.

What to Plan for When Filming in Miami

Permits are split between the county and the beach, and the weather keeps a calendar of its own.

County permits
FilMiami, the Miami-Dade County film office, handles permits for county property and for the cities that take part in its system. Shoots on roads, sidewalks, parks, beaches, and public buildings generally need one, backed by $1 million in general liability insurance.
Miami Beach
Miami Beach issues its own Film & Print permits. They are free, but residential streets, street closures, and drones need extra approvals, and production vehicles on the sand need an access pass and an escort.
Homes and private property
Several cities in the county, including Miami, Coral Gables, and Miami Beach, can require a permit even when you film at a house or on other private property.
Hurricane season
The Atlantic season runs from June 1 to November 30. For shoots in those months we set a backup date and a plan for postponing before anyone travels.
Storms and humidity
From late spring into fall, expect high humidity and afternoon thunderstorms. Exterior scenes go in the morning, with an interior option ready.
Peak periods
Miami Beach flags February, March, and Art Basel week as its busiest times. Off-duty police details, which some permits require, take longer to book then.
Drones
Flights follow FAA rules and need a Part 107 pilot. Much of the city is in controlled airspace around Miami International, and Miami Beach requires an approved flight plan with an officer on site.
Incentives
Florida’s statewide film incentive program ended in 2016. Miami-Dade County runs its own programs through FilMiami, so it is worth asking early whether a project qualifies.

Miami Video Production, Answered

What does video production cost in Miami?

With Brandefy, a single uncomplicated video starts at about $5,000. Bigger productions with several shoot days, on-camera talent, or animation range up to $100,000 and beyond. We send a line-by-line quote after an initial conversation.

How long from kickoff to delivery?

A simple video takes 2 to 4 weeks. A standard project takes 4 to 6, and a multi-video campaign 12 or more. Permit approvals and weather holds during storm season can add days.

Where is the Miami office?

It is at 78 SW 7th Street, Miami, FL 33130, in Brickell. Brandefy’s head office is in Santa Monica, California, and the company has been making video since 2011.

Who issues film permits in Miami?

That depends on the location. FilMiami, the Miami-Dade County film office, permits county property and the cities that participate in its system. Miami Beach issues its own Film & Print permits. Both expect a $1 million general liability certificate. We identify the right office for each location in pre-production.

Do we need a permit to film at a house or condo?

Sometimes. Several cities in the county, including Miami, Coral Gables, and Miami Beach, can require a permit for residential or private-property shoots. Condo buildings and homeowner associations may have their own approval steps too, so we ask early.

Can we film on the sand in Miami Beach?

Yes, with a Miami Beach Film & Print permit, which is free. Only essential production vehicles are allowed onto the beach, and each needs a vehicle access pass and an off-duty escort arranged ahead of time.

What happens if a storm hits on shoot day?

We plan for it. Summer afternoons bring thunderstorms, so outdoor scenes are scheduled for the morning with an indoor alternative ready. During hurricane season, from June 1 to November 30, we agree a backup date before the shoot.

Can you fly a drone over Miami or the beach?

Often, with the right approvals. A Part 107 pilot has to request FAA authorization wherever the airspace is controlled, which includes much of the city near Miami International. Miami Beach also wants an approved flight plan and at least one officer present, and drones cannot fly over people who are not part of the shoot.

Are there film incentives for a Miami shoot?

Florida’s statewide incentive program ended in 2016. Miami-Dade County offers its own incentive programs, administered through FilMiami. Tell us your expected local spend and we can check with the county whether the project is eligible.
