“Working with Brandefy was a game-changer. Their long-form videos drove a 54% higher CTR and 47% higher completion rate than our in-house videos, with YouTube conversions 44% cheaper.”
San Diego video production from concept to final edit, for companies from biotech campuses in Torrey Pines to hotels on the bay.
TRUSTED BY BRANDS ACROSS INDUSTRIES
Brandefy has been making video since 2011. Our San Diego office is in University City, between the 5 and the 805 and close to UC San Diego. Projects here range from a two-minute explainer for a research company to a multi-day shoot along the waterfront.
Scripting, filming, editing, and animation all sit with us, so you are not passing notes between separate vendors. You get one schedule, one budget, and one person to call.

“Exceptional results at a fair price. I’d work with Brandefy again—exclusively.”
“Great results for our launches. The team always offered smart feedback on how to improve.”
Defense contractors, chipmakers, and biopharma companies are a big part of San Diego’s economy. These examples come from those worlds: a 3D product video for SWORD, a security screening device, a company profile for indie Semiconductor, and a whiteboard explainer for Prometic.

Research, defense, and tourism sit side by side here, and each asks something different of a production crew.
Mechanism-of-action animation, lab and facility films, and investor updates that turn dense science into a clear story.
Capability overviews, training modules, and recruiting videos, planned around site access rules and review steps.
Product explainers, company profiles, and trade-show loops for hardware and chip teams.
Hotel and resort spots, attraction promos, and seasonal campaigns shot on the coast and downtown.
Patient stories, physician profiles, and service-line videos for hospitals, clinics, and medical groups.
Mission films, program overviews, and fundraising pieces for universities and research institutes.
Every Brandefy project moves through the same sequence. The process page has the longer version.
We agree on the message, write the script, and draw the storyboard. Casting, locations, permits, and the shoot schedule are set before a camera comes out.
The crew films interviews, scenes, and product footage to the approved plan. For animated pieces, illustration and motion work begin at this stage.
Editors assemble the cut, then add color, sound, music, and graphics. After your review rounds, we export versions for web, social, and broadcast.
Several agencies share the map. Knowing which one controls a location is the first step in planning a shoot here.
Drones. Large parts of the city sit under controlled airspace for San Diego International Airport and nearby military airfields, so flights need FAA authorization ahead of time.
Private property. Filming on private property generally needs no city registration unless the shoot calls for a public-safety review. The owner’s permission is still required.

Budgets generally fall between $5,000 and $100,000, with larger campaigns above that. The main drivers are the number of filming days, the size of the crew and cast, the locations, and the volume of animation or graphics. You receive a quote once we understand the project.
Allow two to four weeks for a simple video and four to six for something mid-sized. A campaign with multiple deliverables usually needs twelve weeks or more. City filming applications need at least three business days, so a basic permit fits inside that window.
On public property, yes. The City of San Diego Film Office handles streets and sidewalks, Parks and Recreation handles city parks and beaches, and the Port of San Diego covers much of the bayfront. Filming on private property usually needs no city registration unless it calls for a public-safety review.
The City of San Diego does not charge to process a filming application. You do pay for any city services the shoot requires, such as police traffic control, and for insurance that meets the city’s minimums.
Both can be arranged with approval from the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. We submit the application and insurance certificate as part of pre-production.
